Engagements in Grand Teton National Park • Cortney and Austin

You wouldn’t have known it was Spring Memorial Weekend. There was wind, rain and snow the entire time. I had 3 sessions scheduled inside Grand Teton National Park and they all were cancelled or rescheduled because of cloud coverage over the beautiful Tetons. I don’t think they were visible 90% of the weekend.

Cortney had contacted me this past winter about documenting her wedding which would be in Jackson at Grand Teton National Park. At the time, the park was issuing new rules with permitting and schedule which made it so hard on all my brides this year! Luckily she secured a spot for her date! Cortney and Austin live in Boise and decided to make a trip to Jackson, Wyoming to do some wedding planning and do their engagement photos. We were originally planned for Monday, but it was complete overcast over the Tetons! We ended up rescheduling twice. When Thursday came around and I couldn’t line up a babysitter, and I knew they were leaving the next day, I loaded up my kids and headed to Jackson to make it happen!

Even with a toddler on my back and baby in tow in her carseat, we got some of the best images EVER! I’m a huge fan of overcast, as long as I can still see that beautiful mountain range. The sun peaked out a few times for us, and it didn’t snow or rain! Literally a dream evening in The Grand Tetons. And Cortney and Austin? These two are gems! They’re both so kind and down to Earth. And I loved that Austin would be so sincere and kind to Cortney. Seriously, it was so sweet. I know men don’t love doing photos, and I’m sure Austin didn’t either. But he still played along with all my games and kept it real.

I CANNOT wait to document Cortney and Austin’s wedding in September back here!

Pocatello Temple Bridals

Remember that one snowstorm we got at the end of December? My husband said we got at least 15 inches at our house within 72 hours. My husband couldn’t even snowboard on the best snow days up at Grand Targhee with road closures. I was stuck in New Mexico just the day before Katie and Preston’s formal session and I didn’t even think I’d be able to shoot their session! Lucky for me, my dad drove over 13 hours to meet my husband and and the kids and I were in the car for over 19 hours! And we were in 4 different states in one day. (New Mexico, Colorado, Wyoming, and Idaho). Anyways, we made it back to Idaho and we got the best snow for Katie and Preston’s formal session!

20º weather looks good on these two! Preston probably stood alone for 15 minutes in the cold while we got Katie ready for the first look. The pink noses and fingers were worth the photos I’d say. And Katie’s dress! I personally love long sleeved wedding dresses, which is kind of a necessity for Idaho winter weddings, but I think they’re so elegant and classic. The pinks pop so perfect with the greens. I mean, honestly, it couldn’t have been any more amazing than this.

Their Pocatello Temple wedding was beautiful! Not quite as cold as their bridals but just as stunning! It was my first time shooting at the Pocatello Temple and I loved it!

Adventure Session in Grand Teton National Park

Let’s just gush over these two for a second. Can you believe Lindsey and Jon have been together almost 10 years? They’ve also lived in five different states in the last five years with the Air Force. Currently they live in Denver and I already told Lindsey I’ll be calling them up when I get a chance to shoot in the Rocky Mountain National Park. I’ve been dying to shoot there for so long! And my parents only live 2 hours from it so I’m not sure why it hasn’t happened yet.

We did Lindsey and Jon’s Anniversary session in September and it was still smokey from the wildfires all over the country. I never want wildfires of course, but sometimes the smoke brings out a neat view of the Grand Tetons. It makes the light a little hazy and the colors pop differently. And these outfits, are you kidding me? I’m always a fan of dressing up and Lindsey and Jon showed up! If you can’t tell, these two were just here to have fun which made their images turn out phenomenal!

We went to 3 different spots in Grand Teton National Park. I shot here over 25 times in 2021 so I learned all the best spots for each time of day and different weather and lighting situations. I seriously love shooting couples who aren’t afraid of being silly and having fun during their session. Enjoy a few of my all time favorites from this summer anniversary session under the Grand Tetons!
