I'm JayCee Peterson

Explorer, photographer, knee slapper, burrito obsessed.

I’m a Wyoming girl who married an Idaho boy. Even though I miss my home state, I can’t help loving these Idaho mountains. I’m continually grateful I live somewhere I can get deep into the wilderness within just 45 minutes.
I’m known for my love of the outdoors and camping, my quirky personality, obsession with board and card games, and showing people how beautiful they are, as they are. Since marrying my husband, I’ve grown a love for long drives and fast cars.

This summer I purchased my dream car in CASH! Let me just say, that was a freakin’ awesome feeling. I am now the proud owner of a yellow Ford Mustang GT V8 Manual! I love it so much! And while it looks crazy expensive, my husband found it for an amazing deal under $5,000. He’s a gem like that!

I have always considered the mountains my second home. My dad was a major workaholic growing up. It felt like we would go weeks without seeing him with his early mornings and late nights. But the moment my mom started filling the cooler with the meal prep for Hobo dinners, and my dad loaded the trailer with the four wheelers, I knew it was camping time. We would drive about two hours out to the mountains in Medicine Bow, Wyoming.

There was no cell service, no paperwork, and no distractions. The mountains are where my relationship with my family grew, but especially my relationship with my father. That quality time in the mountains was something I looked forward to and would savor. It's where my dad taught me to fish, shoot a gun and how to start a campfire. It's where we drove on back trails, ate some of the best food on the planet, and would play games for hours. Life was always good in the mountains. My love for the mountains has only grown since I was a child. I believe that there is something special about those quiet moments in the mountains. There is something magical about being on top of the world and being able to see the beauties of nature that God created for us.

Robbie + Charity • Idaho Mountain Engagements

A JayCee Photography bride and groom are adventurous. They love the mountains, and quality time together. My brides and grooms are willing to do whatever it takes to get the one of a kind images. Robbie and Charity are the definition of a JayCee Photography couple which is why their session is one of my favorites!

Robbie was referred to me by Abbey! You can see Abbey and Jared’s engagements here and their bridals here. Robbie reached out to me before he had even proposed to Charity to check my availability. After he did pop the question, we all got on the phone to discuss location ideas for their engagement session! I loved that they immediately told me they were adventurous and wanted some beautiful engagement photos and would do whatever it took to get them! I love this little spot and it looks so much better in the fall than I ever expected! So glad we decided on it and at the PERFECT time.

One of my favorite things about Robbie and Charity was that they were willing to try new poses and new techniques during the session. I posed them on the waterfall and Robbie asked to do a couple different poses over by the waterfall. I was so grateful for both their willingness to adventure, even in heels!

I can’t wait to document Robbie and Charity’s winter wedding and bridals in January!

My People || Idaho Family Photographer

It took me a long time to think about what I could do to give back to some of our sweet friends. We had been through rough year with our miscarriage. But this group right here is what got us through. I honestly don’t believe I’d be as close with them today as I am without the struggles we went through. I still remember waking up from surgery and having a gift basket of junk food and balloons and flowers and a super sweet card. I also had every friend reach out to me to let me know that they were there for me and that they could do anything I needed. Those messages and cards and flowers and gifts meant the world to me. So I thought long and hard about what I could do to give back to this amazing group of people. I decided to host a client appreciation barbecue. Since each of these friends of ours have invested in me for multiple sessions over the last few years. From weddings to engagements to family photos to head shots I have done almost 3 to 4 different sessions per family! So I had to make sure they knew just how great they were.

We hosted a little barbecue on a Sunday night and all got together. And I did super quick family photos for each of these amazing families. What started out as a group of guys who went to high school together has turned out being just an awesome group of friends. I sincerely love these people and appreciate their friendships.
